Summary
The Project Accountant is responsible for processing transactions on projects and ensuring the revenue and expense are properly recorded. The Project Accountant works closely with Project Managers to monitor the progress of projects, investigate variances, process expenses, and ensure that project billings are issued to customers and payments are collected. This position requires the ability to work on assignments that are complex in nature where independent action, judgment and a high degree of initiative are required. The Project Accountant requires strong combination of analytical, decision making and interpersonal skills.
Additionally, as this positions is part of the accounting department, this position supports the mission and goals of the accounting department including: providing superb client service to the sales and operations divisions, develop and implement internal controls and process and record accurate financial data.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enter project details in the accounting system
- Obtaining project specific Insurance for ourselves and our subcontractors if applicable, including OCIP and CCIP Projects
- Working with the Project Managers to generate SOVs as needed based upon estimated costs
- A/R contract & T&M monthly billing, as well as entry of invoice data to accounting system
- A/R collections
- Generating A/R Lien waivers & collecting upfront supporting waivers as needed
- Make sure all accounts payable invoices are approved and provided to the accounting clerk for processing
- Manages vendor invoices ensuring items are entered and paid as required
- Certified Payroll reports if applicable
- Process job cost transfers as requested by project managers
- Ensure all change orders are entered and up to date
- Assist with any data and backup as needed for assistance with year-end auditing for job related queries
- Process inventory transactions used on jobs and reconcile as needed
- Analyze project revenue and expenses periodically and compare data to source documents
- Assist Project Managers with questions regarding their projects as needed

Education and Experience:
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university preferred; or 3 years related experience and/or training; or similar combination of education and experience.
- Fluent with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Previous work experience in the construction industry preferred
